Divide a statement into observation, interpretation, source, confidence, alternative explanation, and consequence before deciding what it means.

Operational sequence

  1. Copy the exact statement without paraphrasing motive into it.
  2. Extract the directly observable or documented event.
  3. List every interpretation or causal claim separately.
  4. Record source, access, timing, confidence, and possible contamination for each layer.
  5. Choose the next reversible test for the layer that matters most.

Failure states

  • Treating interpretation as observation
  • Discarding an observation because one explanation is wrong
  • Using institutional language as automatically factual
  • Skipping uncertainty because the player wants one answer
