Operational sequence

  1. Pause before amplifying a high-arousal claim.
  2. Open independent sources outside the originating page or faction.
  3. Trace the earliest accessible origin and note copied wording.
  4. Distinguish misinformation, disinformation, malinformation, rumor, satire, and unresolved uncertainty.
  5. Share the correction and provenance with the same visibility as the original claim.

Failure states

  • Equating virality with corroboration
  • Assuming falsehood proves malicious intent
  • Sharing a debunk that repeats the harmful claim without context
  • Treating one trusted outlet as sufficient lateral verification
