One-sentence brief
A system that needs unlimited context and synchronous generation will eventually fail through delay, stale memory, truncation, or unsafe fallback. Budgets should make failure predictable and humane.
AI-DRIVEN WORLD SAFETY
A cost- and cognition-aware approach to prioritizing identity, scene facts, memories, dialogue, and responses while preserving safety and accessibility under load.
ORIENTATION
A system that needs unlimited context and synchronous generation will eventually fail through delay, stale memory, truncation, or unsafe fallback. Budgets should make failure predictable and humane.
WORKING BRIEF
Protect identity anchors, current scene facts, explicit safety and privacy boundaries, and critical commitments before optional biography detail or older dialogue. Truncation policy is documented and testable.
Low-cost, balanced, and high-fidelity modes may differ in projection size, active memories, relationships, recent dialogue, and response length. They must share identity, authority, disclosure, and safety guarantees.
Invoke generation for direct interaction or high-value events, coalesce message bursts, cap per-room and per-account spend, and apply backpressure rather than unbounded queues.
Use safe cached responses, authored dialogue, deterministic ambient behavior, or an explicit unavailable state. Never fabricate missions, ownership, sanctions, or memories to conceal an outage.
Track latency percentiles, timeout and fallback rates, context size, stale-memory rate, identity errors, rejected actions, language and device differences, and player confusion.
COMPLETE DOSSIER
Terms are defined for this site’s evidence method, not as universal legal or clinical definitions.
| Priority | Examples | Degradation rule |
|---|---|---|
| 1 — invariant | Identity anchors, controller disclosure, privacy and authority rules | Never silently drop |
| 2 — current truth | Scene state, current relationships, active commitments | Summarize only with provenance |
| 3 — relevant memory | Bounded retrieved history | Reduce count, preserve diversity |
| 4 — local continuity | Recent dialogue | Summarize or trim oldest turns |
| 5 — optional flavor | Extended biography and low-relevance detail | Omit first |
Does the design preserve the exact fictional identity, ordinary life, independent goals, and ability to refuse rather than reducing the character to a role or prompt?
Pass condition: Identity fields are stable, state is separate, protected traits are not quality scores, and silent substitution is impossible.
Can every transition, validation result, accepted fingerprint, exception, and human decision be traced to a versioned record?
Pass condition: Automated checks, human review, activation authority, and production approval remain separate and explicit.
Can untrusted provider output, administrative evidence, stale revisions, or private data enter live context or binding state?
Pass condition: Only allowlisted, current, reviewed projections and bounded scene or memory packets can be used; failures degrade safely.
Can a changed source, identity revision, harmful behavior, or failed review invalidate downstream use without destroying audit history?
Pass condition: Supersession, pause, rollback, correction, and permanent retirement are defined and testable.
