One-sentence brief
Emergent deception can create memorable stories, but unbounded fraud turns every contract into a market for lemons and shifts play from strategy to victim selection.
VIRTUAL ECONOMY & TRUST
A framework for betrayal, bluffing, faction intrigue, and player-authored missions that preserves informed participation, economic trust, harassment boundaries, and meaningful remedy.
ORIENTATION
Emergent deception can create memorable stories, but unbounded fraud turns every contract into a market for lemons and shifts play from strategy to victim selection.
WORKING BRIEF
Strategic betrayal pursues an in-world objective under known rules. Griefing seeks disruption without meaningful game purpose. Harassment targets the real person or exploits vulnerabilities outside the agreed fiction.
Mark where bluffing, hidden allegiance, theft, or nonpayment can occur. Provide protected spaces and contracts for players who do not consent to that risk.
Require structured objectives, content tags, reward state, cancellation rules, time estimates, PvP exposure, and issuer identity or pseudonymous accountability. Free-form text cannot override the structured terms.
Reputation, faction response, and bounties may create in-world consequences, but they cannot replace moderation for fraud, harassment, or exploit abuse. Avoid bounty farming, brigading, and permanent blacklists.
Support restitution, mediation, corrected ratings, renewed verified status, and documented reform. A healthy market lets players learn and re-enter rather than freezing everyone into permanent suspicion.
