One-sentence brief
Technical histories can reproduce institutional silence when they count detonations but omit who lived, worked, served, was displaced, became ill, sought records, or was excluded from remedy.
NUCLEAR TESTING HISTORY AND EVIDENCE
A human-centered framework for connecting test chronology with exposure evidence, secrecy, displacement, health care, acknowledgement, compensation, restoration, and appeal.
ORIENTATION
Technical histories can reproduce institutional silence when they count detonations but omit who lived, worked, served, was displaced, became ill, sought records, or was excluded from remedy.
WORKING BRIEF
Include nearby residents, downwind communities, test-site workers, service members, miners, cleanup crews, Indigenous peoples, displaced island communities, fishers, and descendants where evidence supports the connection.
Monitoring records, dose reconstruction, epidemiology, clinical evidence, testimony, and administrative eligibility answer different questions and carry different uncertainties.
Ask who is eligible, what proof is required, which harms are recognized, whether records are accessible, how health care and compensation work, and whether exclusions or denials can be appealed.
Blast footage and yield graphics should never crowd out ordinary life, land, culture, consent, health, records access, and long-term environmental responsibility.
