GAME MECHANIC

Operational sequence

  1. Define the character’s baseline using ordinary behavior and retained competence.
  2. Identify the trigger and exact state change.
  3. List what capabilities remain, what choices narrow, and which evidence may be contaminated.
  4. Choose a de-escalation, protection, medical, or operational action that creates more options.
  5. Record the transition and allow long-term recovery rather than instant reset.

Failure states

  • Permanent labels from one crisis
  • Rewarding maximum pressure
  • Treating stabilization as confession
  • Erasing consequences after extraction
