Stable identity and scope

Assign a stable event identifier, title, geographic scope, time span, and version. State whether the record describes a discrete occurrence, a process, a campaign, or a later interpretation.

People, institutions, places, and documents

Represent people, populations, institutions, places, and source documents as distinct entities. A government action must not be assigned to a population, and a report about a place must not be treated as the place itself.

Claim-level evidence

Store the narrow claim, source type, publication date, access date, quoted or paraphrased support, confidence, and reviewer. A source can be strong for one statement and weak for another.

Disputes and competing accounts

Record credible alternatives with their own evidence rather than placing all conflict in one vague disclaimer. Note what evidence would distinguish the accounts.

Missing and destroyed records

Mark unknown dates, missing archives, inaccessible language, destroyed files, and absent affected-community testimony. Missing evidence is neither proof of falsity nor permission to interpolate.

Link every map, card, article, video, glossary entry, and learning path back to the event record version. When the record changes, publish the correction cascade rather than silently replacing the old presentation.

  • The supplied reports are preserved research leads, not independently authenticated official publications or specialist-reviewed evidence packages.
  • Historical examples, numerical thresholds, institutional descriptions, and technical recommendations require claim-specific verification before being treated as current fact.
  • A visualization pattern can improve comprehension but cannot substitute for missing records, local knowledge, affected-community review, or a visible correction process.

Does the presentation preserve dignity, agency, privacy, and the difference between institutions and populations?

Pass condition: People are not reduced to risk scores, spectacle, or aggregate stereotypes.

Correction

Can a changed source or finding be propagated to every derivative route?

Pass condition: The route has a visible review state, stable identifiers, and correction triggers.
