WORKING BRIEF
Cells, administrative regions, transport nodes, watersheds, buildings, and individual coordinates answer different questions. Political borders may be useful reporting units but are not always causal boundaries.
A second, hour, day, season, or year changes which interactions are visible. A time step that is too coarse can hide cascades; one that is too fine can imply unsupported precision and consume resources without improving validity.
Closed borders, perfect mixing, fixed neighborhoods, and frictionless movement are powerful simplifications. They should be treated as scenario assumptions, not natural facts about human behavior or geography.
Higher visual resolution does not create better evidence. A detailed tile may still contain interpolated or stale values, while a coarse table can be more honest if it exposes uncertainty.
A model should be checked at more than one level: local events, regional totals, and global aggregates can all look plausible while contradicting one another.
Large 3D scenes can exclude low-bandwidth, mobile, keyboard-only, or motion-sensitive users. Equivalent text, tables, and static maps allow the model to be reviewed without the most demanding interface.
