Operational sequence
- List every party that can reward, punish, protect, expose, or receive information.
- Record what the character says they owe each party and what behavior demonstrates.
- Distinguish voluntary loyalty from dependency, coercion, fear, and lack of alternatives.
- Create one decision where two obligations cannot both be satisfied.
- Update the lattice from action and consequence rather than confession alone.
Failure states
- One faction label for the whole person
- Assuming love cancels tradecraft
- Assuming coercion removes all agency
- Confusing betrayal of an institution with betrayal of every person in it
