REAL-WORLD INTERPRETIVE

INTERNATIONAL GAME SYSTEMS

AI NPC Identity Disclosure, Consent, and Human–AI Boundaries

A clear rule that players can tell when they are interacting with an AI-controlled character, what the system can remember, and which decisions always remain deterministic or human-reviewed.

ORIENTATION

Why this matters

REAL-WORLD INTERPRETIVE

One-sentence brief

Hiding whether a participant is human or AI may increase short-term surprise, but it undermines informed consent, privacy, trust, and the ability to challenge consequential outcomes.

REAL-WORLD INTERPRETIVE

Three key points

  1. AI identity is disclosed in accessible, persistent ways.
  2. Players can inspect memory scope, mute personalization, and delete eligible conversational memory.
  3. AI dialogue cannot impersonate staff, a clinician, a real player, or an authoritative source.
LEVEL 2

WORKING BRIEF

Evidence, context, and limits

REAL-WORLD INTERPRETIVE

Disclose controller type without dehumanizing the character

An AI-controlled character can remain narratively rich while carrying a clear accessible marker in profile, conversation details, and help text. The marker does not reveal secret plot state or reduce the character to a machine joke.

REAL-WORLD INTERPRETIVE

Separate conversation from authority

Generative dialogue may propose words, emotions, or low-stakes options. Accounts, payments, contracts, inventory, sanctions, medical or safety decisions, and canonical world state are handled by deterministic services or authorized human review.

REAL-WORLD INTERPRETIVE

Explain and limit memory

Players can see whether an NPC remembers the current scene, game session, relationship history, or approved long-term facts. Sensitive disclosures are minimized, purpose-limited, and not silently shared across unrelated characters or games.

REAL-WORLD INTERPRETIVE

No covert human impersonation

AI NPCs do not claim to be a real employee, another player, a therapist, a government official, or an external authority. Synthetic voices and text remain attributable to the fictional character and platform.

REAL-WORLD INTERPRETIVE

Challenge and correct consequential output

A player can report an AI statement, view the relevant context category, receive a human-reviewed answer, correct stored facts, and obtain remedy when an error caused loss or harm.

Known limitations and gaps

  • These pages are authored design syntheses, not independent validation of every claim in the supplied reports.
  • No country, culture, language, religion, diagnosis, disability, migration status, income level, or region is assigned a hidden competence, honesty, criminality, loyalty, or risk modifier.
  • The public edition omits operational intrusion, evasion, targeting, coercion, weapons, exploit, and real-person profiling instructions.
  • Regional, economic, accessibility, clinical, lived-experience, legal, privacy, and consumer-protection review remain open human gates.
  • RogueIntelligence.org remains authoritative for live game state; these pages describe design principles and correction boundaries.
