  2. Validate emotion rather than manufacturing evidence.
  3. Offer choices about distance, audience, light, exits, timing, and support.
  4. Ask permission before examining records or possessions.
  5. End with a concrete next step and the option to return later.

Failure states

  • Agreeing with a frightening belief to unlock progress
  • Aggressive confrontation
  • Crowding or touching without consent
  • Treating the player as a therapist or savior
