GAME BRIEFING
How this lens changes the investigation
The Evidence Lab treats reliability as a property of individual claims and collection conditions, not a permanent score attached to a person. Every major MIRRORLINE case includes at least one accurate observation embedded in an unsupported interpretation and one confident institutional statement later disproven.
Observable clues
- Distance, lighting, attention, intoxication, fatigue, fear, and time since the event.
- Consistency of core observation versus changing explanation.
- Contamination by leading questions, group discussion, or chart copying.
- Independent physical or digital corroboration.
- Source incentives, access, and limits.
Evidence tests
- Record the person’s own words before summarizing them.
- Separate confidence from accuracy.
- Use claim-level confidence and preserve contradictory versions.
- Check whether the interviewer introduced key language.
- Update the record without deleting earlier uncertainty.
Do not assume
- That diagnosis is a reliability score.
- That confidence equals accuracy.
- That inconsistency equals lying.
- That a professional title guarantees neutrality.
- That corroboration from copied records is independent.
Gameplay outcomes
- Drives the contradiction matrix on every dossier.
- Allows players to recover true details from partially mistaken accounts.
- Creates audit trails for institutional contamination.
- Changes how accusations survive later review.
The elevated source set adds an operational explanation without replacing the public evidence chain.
